A 9th-century campus stupa bearing 1,008 Buddha images — at the heart of Itkhori's Buddhist story.
Within the Bhadrakali Mandir campus stands the Bodh Stup — also known as the Manoti Stup — crowned with 1,008 images of Gautama Buddha (1,004 small and four large). Tradition dates the monument to the 9th century; water storage sits at its summit. Local lore links the wider site to Mahatma Buddha's prayer ground and holds that the name Itkhori itself was given by Gautama Buddha's aunt. Together with the museum's Jain and Hindu antiquities, the stupa makes the campus one of eastern India's most remarkable multi-faith landscapes.
